WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A DESIGNER?
I had always had a keen interest in art and physics, I found it very exciting to combine the two sciences to create a piece of art that is aesthetically pleasing and practical. This sparked my initial interest in the field of architecture. During my 5 years of B.Arch. the most intriguing part of architecture for me was the relationship of man with a building; how a certain space has a major impact on a person’s lifestyle, movement and mood. This made me realise that I wanted my career focus to be more user – oriented, and thus, I switched my career path to Interior Design. It not only gives me opportunities to work closely with the people but also gives me more freedom in my creativity and allows me to work more thoroughly with details.
FROM WHERE DO YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION?
I draw inspiration for each project from the user and the space itself. Being an avid traveller, I have experienced that every space hides a distinct tale in its textures, colours, materials and layouts. These experiences have made me a believer of the Roman mythology which talks about the ‘genius loci’ i.e. the ‘spirit of a place’. Each person and place has a unique story, with distinct characteristics, needs and limitations. These elements lay the foundation of my design.
WHAT DO YOU FEEL MAKES YOUR STYLE UNIQUE?
I am equipped to bring a unique combination of both disciplines, with thorough knowledge in the field of architecture and experience in the field of interior. Furthermore, with background of having studied abroad I bring a different flavour of design to the table.
